Vilike - Movement Learning App Redesign

An experience design collaboration as part of my studies at Futuregames with Vilike to redesign a movement-based learning app for children, improving clarity, engagement, and adult trust.

Problem

The original Vilike prototype had major usability issues: children struggled with navigation and feedback, while adults were uncertain about camera use and privacy controls.

Solution

Through multiple testing rounds with children and adults, the team redesigned navigation, interaction cues, and camera feedback with clear visual language, gamified progress, stronger privacy visibility, and PIN-protected adult settings.

Role

Contributed to research, testing, journey mapping, and Figma design, with emphasis on adult settings accessibility, data transparency clarity, and feedback mechanic iteration.

Outcomes

After three testing rounds, users showed better navigation confidence, clearer understanding of movement feedback, stronger emotional engagement, and improved adult trust in privacy and control features. The final high-fidelity Figma prototype was presented live to the client.

Lessons Learned

  • Designing for children requires very clear affordances and immediate feedback.
  • Visual consistency strongly affects perceived usability and confidence.
  • Camera-based interactions need instant, reassuring feedback to avoid frustration.
  • Adult trust around privacy and data handling is as important as child engagement.
  • Iterative testing reveals emotional friction points that early prototypes miss.
